Privacy Policy

Petit Français (the "App") is built for young children (ages 3–6) learning French. We take privacy seriously, especially for kids. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what we do not do.

What we collect

• No personal information from children. We do not ask for names, email addresses, phone numbers, photos, or location.
• Anonymous purchase identifier. When you purchase a subscription, our payments provider RevenueCat generates an anonymous user ID to manage your subscription entitlement on this device. This ID is not tied to any personal information.
• Voice Discussion audio. When the Voice Discussion feature is used, spoken French is processed via Apple's on-device Speech Recognition, and transcribed text is sent to our server to generate Lili's reply via Anthropic's Claude API. Audio is not stored. Transcripts are not retained after the response is generated.
• Local progress data. Learning progress, streaks, XP, and stickers are stored only on your device. We do not collect or transmit this data.

What we do not do

• We do not collect personally identifiable information from children or adults.
• We do not use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.
• We do not track users across other apps or websites.
• We do not share or sell any data.

Third-party services

• RevenueCat — processes subscription purchases. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
• Anthropic (Claude API) — generates conversational replies for Voice Discussion. Requests are routed through our server; no API key or personal data is shipped in the App. See Anthropic's privacy policy.
• Apple — handles payment processing and on-device Speech Recognition.

Children's privacy

Petit Français is designed for children ages 3–6 and complies with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and Apple's Kids Category requirements. We do not knowingly collect personal information from any child.

Parental controls

Purchases, links to external websites, and the Parent Dashboard are protected by a parental gate that requires an adult-level interaction (a sustained two-finger press) before they can be accessed.

Data retention

Because we do not collect personal data, there is nothing to retain or delete on our side. Local progress data on your device can be removed at any time by deleting the App.
